Dr.David Mifsud

President


Dr David Mifsud earned his PhD in Zoology from the University of Basel in Switzerland with a thesis work on the systematic and phylogeny of the Paurocephalinae (Hemiptera: Psylloidea). He has a keen interest on the entomofaunistics of the Maltese islands. He is particularly knowledgeable on the Hemiptera and Coleoptera of the Maltese islands but he published several papers on other insect groups. Other interests include plant parasitic nematodes and pathogenic fungi of Malta.

Henry Borg Barther

Vice President


Mr Henry Borg Barthet is an interior designer by profession. He is particularly interested in the study of the Coleoptera of the Maltese islands on which subject he also published some papers, he collected extensively in the Mellieha area of Malta, his coleoptera collection is now in the National Museum of Natural History in Mdina, Malta

Mr.Aldo Catania

Treasurer


Mr. Aldo Catania is a nurse by profession. Since a young age he showed an interest in the study of local entomology. He is one of the Maltese experts on butterflies and moths and he published several papers on this group. Breeding Lepidoptera for scientific research is also his passion.

Ms.Maria Mangion

PRO


Ms Marija Mangion is currently employed as visiting staff at the University of Malta. Her BSc dissertation work involved a study of the aphid fauna associated with shrubs and herbaceous plants. She is currently doing a PhD in Marine ecological monitoring and assessment. She has an interest in literature and general natural history.

Mr.Kurt Deagabriele

Secretary


Mr Kurt Degabriele is currently studying for his Advance level subjects and next year he will start University. He has a keen interest on the physiology of arthropods and a general interest on entomology. other interests include aviation and World War II history.

Mr.Ryan Sultana

Vice-Secretary


Mr Ryan Sultana is currently doing a Diploma in Agriculture at the University of Malta. He is particularly interested in general entomology of the Maltese islands and since a young boy he have always shown a general interest in the natural world around us. He loves documentaries and reading on environmental issues and he is particularly keen in promoting extracurricular activities.

Mr.Paul Gatt

Member


Dr Paul Gatt is a consultant dermatologist by profession. He has a keen interest on the entomofaunistics of the Maltese islands and he is one of the local specialists on flies. He has published several papers on these groups on both local and foreign species. He is particularly keen in doing field trips abroad.
